Happy Happy Birthday

Davin had a great little party to celebrate turning 4! Some bbq at the house and fun in the lake. I even got to invite a friend.

His favorite part was the ORANGE SPIDERMAN CAKE!!  Awesome. Even better, it was a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. Yum, yum.

Hike to the top

We went on a crazy long hike all the way to the top of Panther Mountain!  And Davin and I were awesome... aside from a little complaining about a bug bite, we both walked by ourselves to the top!!

The view was worth the work... well, thats what Mommy and Daddy said at least.  I'm not totally convinced.

Gone campin'

We drove nearly 4 hours to the Adirondacks... to go camping at lake.  We drove to get to another lake!  So silly.  But so fun....

Oh yeah... and we got a dog

D O G spells dog.  And we got one - Smoke.  Everyone thinks maybe boxer mix, but he's mostly a Mountain Curr (or Treeing Tennessee Brindle - a special breed descending from the Curr).  Mountain Currs are Southern dogs, not usually seen up here in Yankee land.  But he seems to be adjusting well to living in Jersey so far.

Just so cute.

Smoke was his name from the rescue shelter.  It seemed to have stuck.  We thought it was cute until I told my teacher one day... "I'm so excited. I'm going to go home and play with smoke."  Hum... maybe that didn't sound so good.  (That being said, with two scientists as parents... I wouldn't be surprised if one day, I did come home and play with different types of smoke - and not the dog!)

Happy Mother's Day

So its been a while, but here's a special Mother's day post to tie you over while I work on updating the last ... two months now!

I had a great one with amazing presents and lots of hugs and love.

I'm 10 years old and like hot stuff!!  LOVE IT!

Winter fun

I've been obsessed with the groundhog. I was banking on him not seeing his shadow. Alas, he did and he seems to be right. We've got quite a bit of winter left to go here in NJ! At least we're enjoying it!

Can't find the sand? Who cares? Scoop up the snow!

 

A snowball fight is always good fun. This last storm was finally warm enough for the snow to stick together. Good for snowballs and snow ants (think snowman with antennae), but not as good for Mommy & Daddy shoveling the driveway.

 

The snow as also gorgeously beautiful. It coated everything!

 

 The only color was Dahlia and a yellow sign.

Daddy took a long walk onto the lake. It was tough to tell that he was on ice beneath all that snow. Another few days and it was a great ice rink of fun!

A few days later, all the gorgeous snow was replaced with sparkly ice. What a wintery week!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

We're getting a couple more inches today on top of two other decent winter storms this January. This week was one big snow week - MLK holiday on Monday, early dismissal on Tuesday and no school on Wednesday!

We've been getting a lot of sledding in.  We can go right in our front yard!

 In between the fun, we also did some work with our brand new snow shovels!

 We also took a short walk to a park down the street with a perfect sledding hill.

NYC - the City

Before Grandma Aileen left, we all went into 'the City' to go to a children's bookstore. We all got new books! Davin didn't like the his first choice, but he did get excited when he found a book about knights.

After the bookstore, we went on a hunt for an ice skating rink. It just seemed like the 'thing to do' in NYC in the winter - run on ice next to a big building. We ended up at Bryant Park and it was awesome! Davin and I got pretty good at it after at least a dozen trips around the rink.

 Fancy Bryant Park also had a Merry-go-round. I pranced on a pretty pink pony. Davin rode a rapid rabbit.
