Winterland Prep

To get in the holiday spirit we did our now traditional December activities - lights at the Temple, lights in Brookside Gardens, decorating the tree, and collecting boxes.

I got to put the star on the tree this year, but we all helped decorate.  Davin was much better at putting the ornaments on this year compared to last year.

Lots of boxes from our wonderful relatives also decorated the (under) tree.  One day we came home to a tower of boxes taller than us!!  Awesome!

The Temple had 100,000 MORE lights this year than last year, for a total of 600,000 lights!  And they were beautiful.

After we saw the lights, we went inside the visitor's center to see nativity scenes from around the world and, for the first time, went to one of the free concerts. Even though it was after bedtime, Davin and I sat mesmerized listening to two girls play violin - Bach, Beethoven, and, of course, Tchaikovsky. I recognized most of the songs from The Little Einsteins, but it was Davin who really loved the music.  He was shhhing me!

We went to Brookside Gardens which was fabulous as always, especially with a cup of hot chocolate and a Thomas the Train display.  Mommy brought her camera but the SD card was still in the computer from the last time she downloaded pictures for the blog.  Silly Mama... no pictures of our last year at Brookside. :-(

And right before Christmas, to make sure we ready and being good, Santa and Mrs Claus borrowed a firetruck and came by to say hi. One of their elves gave us candy canes! I love the holidays!!

I hope Santa will visit us in NJ next year. Any suggestions for great lights in NY/NJ??

Christmas sounded like loads of fun. The lights looked spectacular and the tree trimming was first class. As for NJ/NY, we hear that Rockefeller Center in Manhattan not only has special lights but a great ice skating rink as well.
