Almost

I'm almost 6 months.... in preparation, I've been practicing my baby tricks. Of course, I have to practice my smile and wave - elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist. Being cute is hard work.

Hey, hey look at me! I've got a new toy - okay, its not new, but I'm finally old enough to play with it!

I'm old enough to play with because I can sit up all by myself!!

But I'm still not all that coordinated - why did it fall over?

We've also been working on eating. I'm now getting some of it into my mouth... and in my hair, ear, nose, eyebrow, toes... just like when Mommy eats!!

This is what I think of your rice cereal. I spit on your cereal!

I think I still prefer my food the old fashion way - milk. Its taken me a while to learn; I don't get tons of practice - but I can hold my bottle all by myself now. The picture is fuzzy (Daddy took it) but you get the point.

Hope all is well where ever you are! Happy Memorial Day.

New Accomplishments

So you all saw me roll over... and now I've rolled the other way. Before I always rolled to my left. Now I can do it to the right. AND I can roll from my tummy to my back. I've only done these things a few times now. Rolling to the left is still the easiest. Mommy won't let me do it on the changing table though - boo!

Also to add to the list, I've slept an entire night in my own bed. I've been going to sleep in my crib for almost 2 months now, but I usually 'crawl' into Mommy & Daddy's bed around 6 am (and then kick Mommy in my sleep until about 8 am). But this morning, I didn't wake up at 6am. I slept until 7:15 am (granted I woke up hungry my 2 other normal times in the middle of the night) and then started turning on and off my 'aquarium' - it bubbles, lights up, and plays music. I had seen Mommy do it... and I thought I'd give it a try. Cause & effect is fun! (The current deluded dream for Mommy & Daddy is to have me sleep all the way through the night in my crib by 6 months... we're at least moving in the right direction.)

Much to Mommy's annoyance, I'm starting to insist on things - specifically sharing Mommy's juice in the mornings. I don't really get much juice, I just like to pretend to drink out of the glass. When Mommy wants her turn I whine. (While I (Mommy) knows this is a good developmental step... it sure is an annoying one! I think it might be a while before she really learns sharing.)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of you Moms out there. As a present to my Mommy on her first Mother's Day... I'm sick. :-(

I hope all of you are having a better day.

Update: I should have been more specific to avoid worried people (aka grandparents). Dahlia just has a little cold - a cough, sneezes, and a bit cranky. She's already getting much better. No fever, no dehydration, no worries. We're taking good care of her. Her daddy is worried enough for you all. :-)

5 months

Another month and another grandparent... just kidding! Well, kind of... Grandma Aileen did come visit for a weekend.

The weather was great so we played outside a lot and Grandma helped Mommy and Daddy build a planter to start a garden.

While they slaved in the sun, I played with flowers (okay, weeds) in the shade. You've gotta take time to smell the flowers!

It was a very exciting month, especially at the end. After I learned to rollover - I'm sure you've all seen the video by now - I discovered how to blow 'raspberries'. Sometimes it means I can blow big drool bubbles; I just make a silly 'b' sound. Its lots of fun. I blew raspberries all day on Friday and laughed when Mommy did it back. We'll try to get some video with sound of raspberries - be patient though.

Smiles

I discovered that I love to play peek-a-boo. Mommy thought it might be a good idea to put up a video to share the smiles. Sorry you can't hear me giggle and say hello (aka babble), the audio got messed up.

Rolling

Look at me. I can roll over! Next step... rolling over the other way... and then hopefully crawling (though it seems that Grandpa Jim wants me to walk next.)
