Xmas Eve

So many presents (mostly for ME)!! So little time. But alas, I was only allowed to open a few tonight.

I got to open a slightly belated present from Baby Luke. I LOVE it! In fact, I love it so much I didn't want to open any more presents. I just wanted to play with the play-doh!

Finally, Mommy got me to open the box from the Poehls family. Its Poehls family tradition to open some presents on Xmas eve. I was distracted by all of the fun foam peanuts.

And then I was distracted with the Play-doh again. Mommy took it away but promised I could play tomorrow - on Christmas!! Yeah!

I got lots of great presents in that box... including a cute hat, sweater, pants, and a big puzzle - that I also wanted to open and play with. Man... I'm not sure opening presents on Xmas eve is fun. You can't play with anything yet because you have to go to sleep. But thanks to everyone... I can't wait to play/wear your presents soon!

I finally got into opening presents and mistakenly opened Daddy's present. He was a little sad because he only has a few presents. He liked the book though. Thanks!

The one present Mommy and Daddy did let me play with (because otherwise it was going to keep annoying them, making baby sounds randomly in the background) was my new baby doll!! I LOVE IT!!

Last minute wrapping

I helped Mama with some last minute gift wrapping.

I think I mostly wrapped myself!

Frame

We have a frame! The big opening is for a sliding glass door in the dining room.

The back wall has a window and there's another window you can't see on the side wall.

And the all important roof. It probably would have been nice to have before the freezing rain, but whatcha gonna do.

Snow Storm!

Washington DC just can't deal with snow... 20-24" of snow and everything shuts down... for days! I must admit that I didn't really like snow at first either.

I'm more of a fan now that its stopped coming down though!

Christmas Tree

House progress

This weeks progress... The cement in the trench hardened over the weekend, so it was all ready to build the rest of the foundation on Tuesday. In a couple of hours, we had a new foundation!

Friday, the contractor showed up early, a bit frantic to get the subfloors in before the big winter storm hit. He didn't like the idea of his foundation getting full of snow. So a huge truck showed up with lots of rocks to line the crawl space. They tried to get up the hill with no success (and a lot of damage to the lawn - though it was pretty ugly anyways.)

Finally, they gave up and dumped the rocks on the sidewalk.

At the end of the day, we came home to this... under the tarps is a new subfloor. Yeah! Good thing, since we've already got 6" of snow and we've got another ~18 hours of storm to go!

Update: We got ~22" of snow. I hated it when it was coming down... but I'm starting to warm up to it. Its fun to throw it at Daddy. He hee.

Everyone's sick

I'm finally starting feel better. Yesterday wasn't so good - my tummy hurt. But today, I'm much better. Mommy and Daddy on the other hand... they're sick. Sharing is caring afterall!

We're not so photogenic right now, so I thought I'd update you on some of the progress on the house.

This week was the first week of work on the addition. Day one - excavate for the foundation. Day two - wait on the inspector - APPROVED. Day three - snow and rain. Day four - dig out some mud to help dry it out. Day five - start pouring the foundation! The backhoe and cement truck were AWESOME!!

The big progress that we've made was getting in the floors in the Rec Room downstairs. I showed you how I helped out, but it makes a better story with some of the in progress and final product pictures.

Once the smelly old carpet was removed, we were left with... this...

Some of the old tiles were broken or missing and needed to be patched.

All the fun couches got pushed into the entry way while we put down the floors.

Again, I just wanted to remind you that I was a HUGE help!!

Once in stalled it flows perfectly from the red oak risers to the new floor.

The floor looks pretty good with our new Xmas tree too!! I helped pick it out. It was cold.

The other project that was finished recently was my new closet!! Its got TONS of storage space (all the area behind the closed door is storage for my toys, etc). And most importantly is super cute.

Its too raining outside for Mommy to cut the floors to finish the hallway, so today's project got changed to fixing the hole in the ceiling. Its a big hole!!

As you can see, I also helped put in the new drywall to patch the hole. I did a great job marking it up... so it could be oriented properly of course.

Like my circle?

Post-birthday lull

I'm glad we did all of our celebrations yesterday, eventhough it rained and snowed. It was good because I'm sick today. boo! Hopefully I'll feel well enough later today to go get a Christmas tree!

2 years old!

Its my birthday and I'll do what I want to.
I had a great day. We woke up and watched toons and ate chocolate chip pancakes. Yum Yum. Then I got to open my presents. I got some great stuff. Thanks everyone!

A monkey... just like on my shirt.

Some great books... with pop-ups!

These green boots - with googly eyes and a huge smile (on the boots and on my face)!

It was tough work getting everything out of all the boxes.

After presents, we took a train into DC. I got to sing Choo Choo Boogie on the train with Mommy.

Daddy showed me all the cool places as we passed.

We finally got to a great new place - the Building Museum. There was a whole room for toddlers to play in with all sorts of toys!

A small dollhouse...

and a big playhouse!

Then we hopped on the train a couple of stops and went to the Smithsonian. I got to see lots of animals including this giraffe, a HUGE elephant, lions (grrr), batties, Nemo & Dory, and even a whale.

It was a busy morning and we had to get back for naptime... a little late. When we got back to the care there was a good coat of snow everywhere. Its becoming a tradition now - the first snow storm of the year is on my birthday!

You can see the snow coming down as we head inside.

I don't know if you can see it, but that mailbox says PERMIT on it. Yep we got our permits last week for the new addition - to make a reasonable sized kitchen. Work will start on Monday. I hope this snow doesn't slow them down too much.

I'm two! Wohoo. I'm a big girl now. I'm such a big girl that I went pee pee in the potty twice today and my first poo poo in the potty. We'll see if it keeps up tomorrow.
