Winter fun

I've been obsessed with the groundhog. I was banking on him not seeing his shadow. Alas, he did and he seems to be right. We've got quite a bit of winter left to go here in NJ! At least we're enjoying it!

Can't find the sand? Who cares? Scoop up the snow!

A snowball fight is always good fun. This last storm was finally warm enough for the snow to stick together. Good for snowballs and snow ants (think snowman with antennae), but not as good for Mommy & Daddy shoveling the driveway.

The snow as also gorgeously beautiful. It coated everything!

The only color was Dahlia and a yellow sign.

Daddy took a long walk onto the lake. It was tough to tell that he was on ice beneath all that snow. Another few days and it was a great ice rink of fun!

A few days later, all the gorgeous snow was replaced with sparkly ice. What a wintery week!!

Wow! You have a lot of snow (we have a drought). How about you sending us some much needed water? In the meantime, we are coming to see you all in two weeks and you can show us how to build a snow ant...

Gorgeous! I guess you decided that Mommy and Daddy had to take their turns to shovel that wet snow. Glad to hear you finally got your snowball fight. If the snow stays, you can show Grandpa Jim what fun it is too! I'm assuming your winter snacks are not from the ice cream truck but a nice hot cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows.

Did your neighbors get out their shovels to make your ice rink on the lake? I remember in Wyoming that the fire department used to flood the baseball diamond and the road crew would scrape it if it snowed a lot so we had a community rink during the winter. Of course there, once it froze it didn't rain or thaw for months on end.

I know the rains turned into snow last week in April, but the lake is now being fished so we know it's not frozen over still.
