Glimmer of Hope

Yesterday we got our counter tops! It almost looks like a kitchen now. Though don't be fooled, the cabinet people screwed up the most expensive cabinet... we've been waiting 2 weeks for the replacement. None of the appliances are hooked up.

We don't even have a working sink yet.

But the countertops are beautiful. The pictures at night don't really do it justice... the veins are black and green and there's big chunks of purple. Daddy is just happy that Mommy is happy (well except for all the people she's yelled at about the cabinets). I'm just happy that I have more places to hide and a place to put my juice box.

Looking good! Love the green walls too, although I'm not sure I like the bead board, but maybe it looks better in person when you see the whole of it.

You'll have to celebrate having the kitchen back soon! Go get shelf liners to protect that beautiful finish. Don't forget your French Doors while you are complaining to your contractor! But give him some snowmageddon slack too.

We had to ditch the french doors because there wouldn't have been enough room for the dining room table. We put in a sliding glass door instead. And what bead board? We're complaining directly to the cabinet people... we didn't purchase the cabinets through the contractor. We're still mostly pleased with him... he's at the house today with the electrician so that we should have lights and working outlets tonight... and a working sink, dishwasher AND cooktop by tomorrow. Maybe even a fridge too! Oh my!

No matter what has transpired (and probably might still occur), the kitchen is light years ahead of where you started -- our compliments to all of you (especially Dahlia for the up-to-date commentary so that we know what is happening). We can't wait to see what the finished product looks like...

Looks beautiful. I recommend Stainless Steel Magic to keep those appliances clean. You can purchase that at Bed, Bath and Beyond or Linens 'N Things. I've tried a lot of different brands and this one works best. Enjoy, it looks beautiful!
